- What is my luggage allowance?
Your luggage allowance depends on various things, e.g. airline regulations, type of trip, booking class, alliance membership status/category, etc. Please refer to the conditions of each airline.
- What things can't I take in my hand luggage and my check-in luggage?
Prohibited for carriage, both in hand luggage and in the check-in luggage of a passenger:
- Explosives and objects filled with them
- Compressed and liquefied gases
- Flammable liquids
- Flammable solids
- Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides
- Toxic substances
- Radioactive materials
- Caustic and corrosive substances
- Poisonous and toxic substances
Prohibited only for hand luggage:
- sharp, cutting, piercing objects
- liquids over 100 ml
- How many bags can I take on my flight?
The amount of allowed luggage will depend on the conditions of the fare you choose and the class of service. In addition to standard carry-on baggage, you can take the following items with you for free in the aircraft cabin:
- a backpack, the weight and dimensions of which are set by the carrier
- handbag, purse or briefcase
- portable computer, the weight of which together with the bag/case does not exceed 3 kg
- a bouquet of flowers
- outerwear
- baby food for the child during the flight
- a suit in a garment bag
- baby carriages, cradles and other devices for carrying a child
- medicines and special dietary products in the amount required for the duration of the flight
- crutches, canes, walkers, rollators, folding wheelchairs used by the passenger
- goods purchased duty-free, packed in a sealed plastic bag
- printed publications for reading in flight
- cell phone, camera, video camera
- What happens if my luggage is too heavy when I get to the airport?
If it turns out at the airport that your luggage exceeds the allowance:
1. Check your luggage for items you can take with you on the board without weighing.
2. Try putting some of your items in your carry-on bag if there is room.
3. If you are travelling with somebody, check if it is possible to transfer part of your baggage to your companion.
4. If the overweight cannot be avoided, you will need to pay for excess baggage at the airline's fares.
- What do I do if my luggage is damaged?
If your luggage is damaged, go to the Lost and Found counter without leaving the baggage area, report the damage to the airline and claim for compensation where necessary.
- What do I do if my luggage is lost or delayed?
If your baggage is lost, then without leaving the baggage area, go to the Lost and Found counter. If there is no Lost and Found counter, you can ask for help an airline representative or an airport employee who is in charge of baggage. They will first try to find your baggage and, if it does not work out, they will offer to fill out the PIR - Property Irregularity Report - on the non-arrival of baggage.
Do not leave the baggage claim area until you complete the PIR. Otherwise, the airline will not be responsible for your belongings.
The PIR with your special number will be uploaded to WorldTracer, the international baggage tracking system. Now baggage will be automatically searched at all airports, and you can independently track the movement of your belongings. You leave one copy of the act at the airport, take the second with you. You also have your boarding pass with a baggage tag.
If your baggage is lost on an international flight, please check if you need to fill out a customs declaration.
According to Russian rules, a baggage that has arrived separately is considered unaccompanied baggage and must be declared.
Delayed baggage must be reported immediately after the flight to the Lost & Found counter.
The airline needs to know about the delay of your baggage as soon as possible, but no later than 21 days after arrival, so that they can quickly track and deliver your baggage.
You will be informed when the location of your baggage will be established.
Please note that delayed baggage must be reported by the passenger in whose name the baggage was checked in.
- Can I carry liquids on the flight?
Onboard the aircraft, you can bring approved liquids, gels and aerosols in containers with a capacity of no more than 100 ml. Liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 100 ml are not accepted for carriage, even if the container is only partially filled. The exceptions are medicines, special dietary products, baby food, including mother's milk, carried in the amount required for the flight duration. You can also bring liquids from duty-free shops onboard if packed and sealed in special transparent bags.
- Can I take baby toys in my hand luggage?
Children's toys are allowed in hand luggage onboard of the aircraft. The primary condition is - dimensions of hand luggage must comply with the airline's rules. Also, it is prohibited to take toys that imitate weapons of any type and to use radio-controlled toys during the flight.
- Can I carry baby milk or baby food in my hand luggage?
Yes, you can carry baby milk or baby food in your hand luggage. However, you should not bring water to warm up baby food on board. If you are carrying baby food without a child, you will not be allowed to have more than 100 ml of liquid (baby food) as hand luggage.
